Norwegian Aqua vs Icon of the Seas: compare the Western Caribbean

By Cruise.do · Updated

The short answer

Start with the island stop and the onboard experiences you want. The Aqua route family and Icon snapshot used here share Costa Maya, Roatan and Cozumel; Harvest Caye versus CocoCay is the main destination difference. A date-matched Aqua departure has not been established, so obtain two dated offers before comparing fares.

The NCL source is a regional listing, while the Royal Caribbean evidence is a dated catalog snapshot. That distinction matters: do not use the table to coordinate flights or assume Aqua sails on the Icon date. NCL route listing. Royal Caribbean catalog source.

Get the actual Aqua departure and compare the full day-by-day sequence. If either ship changes the shared ports or duration on your dates, reassess the comparison rather than carrying forward this example.

Choose a daily rhythm before a feature list

Aqua’s official onboard page features Aqua Slidecoaster, Oceanwalk and Infinity Beach, with separate complimentary and specialty dining sections. Icon’s official overview highlights Category 6 and Surfside. These are useful starting points for identifying the spaces you want to spend time in. Aqua features. Icon features.

For each ship, write a typical afternoon and evening. Someone who wants long outdoor breaks may choose differently from someone who wants a succession of activities. Neither plan is more correct, but they should not be scored with the same checklist.

Check suitability for your own party rather than assuming an advertised attraction will work for every guest. Confirm the applicable participation rules, opening times and booking requirements before making one feature the reason for a purchase.

Treat the different destination as a separate decision

Do not assume two cruise-line-associated destinations have identical inclusions. List the day you want at Harvest Caye and the day you want at CocoCay, then obtain the current food, transport, equipment and activity prices for each.

Royal Caribbean identifies beaches, Oasis Lagoon and selected food venues as included at CocoCay, while experiences such as Thrill Waterpark carry a charge. That says nothing about which Harvest Caye costs your particular booking includes. CocoCay inclusion policy.

If you mainly want Cozumel or Roatan, the shared calls may carry more weight than either island. Make sure the usable port hours support your plan, and keep a simpler backup for a changed schedule.

Compare usable benefits, not package names

Write down exactly which drinks, restaurants, internet use and excursions you intend to buy. Next, mark which of those are covered in each written offer and what restrictions or additional charges apply. A package label alone is not a total-trip price.

An included benefit you would not otherwise use has little value in your personal comparison. Conversely, a package that covers the particular meals you planned could matter more than a smaller headline fare. Avoid assigning a saving until you have the terms and the alternative price.

Match guest ages, occupancy, cabin type and cancellation flexibility. A selected cabin on one ship and an assigned-later category on another are different offers even if both are advertised as balconies.

When each option belongs on your shortlist

  • Aqua: its outdoor and dining spaces feature in your own plan, and the confirmed itinerary plus Harvest Caye day fits your budget.
  • Icon: its activity mix and CocoCay day are priorities, and the cabin and extras still fit the total you want to spend.
  • Neither yet: one offer lacks a departure date, clear cabin category or itemized package terms.

Use the inside versus balcony comparison if a cabin upgrade is driving the difference. That can be a larger practical tradeoff than choosing between two attractions you might use once.

What this comparison can and cannot tell you

Which is cheaper? No current matched quotes were verified. The route shortlist cannot establish a price winner.

Do they visit the same places? Three calls overlap in these examples; the fourth call and date evidence differ.

Can I use this for another year? Use the decision process, but recheck every itinerary and inclusion. The dated evidence should not be read as a permanent deployment schedule.
