Is an obstructed-view cruise cabin worth booking?
The short answer
An obstructed-view cabin can be good value if you mainly want daylight or outdoor air. It is a poor bargain if your main reason for booking is an uninterrupted view. Ask for evidence of the exact obstruction before comparing prices.

An obstruction can affect the view differently when you are sitting, standing or looking downward. The category label alone does not show which part of the view matters to you. Royal Caribbean also warns that guarantee allocations may include obstructed views.
Ask for the room number, category description and an image or explanation specific to that room. A promotional photograph of an unobstructed balcony in the same broad class is not enough.
Decide what you want from the window
For daylight while getting dressed, a partial obstruction may be acceptable. For watching scenery from a chair, the seated sightline matters much more. If you plan to take photographs, ask whether the obstruction sits in the area you would naturally frame.
Consider privacy as well as scenery. A view toward a public space creates a different experience from an outward-facing view, even if neither is described as physically obstructed.
Use the saving for a real comparison
Get the final price for the obstructed room and a comparable unobstructed option. Keep occupancy, sailing and fare terms the same. Divide the difference by the number of nights if that helps you judge how much you would pay for the clearer view each day.
This is a personal value calculation, not a resale calculation. You do not recover the premium by spending extra hours on the balcony if that is not how you normally travel.
When to choose another room
Choose the clearer view when scenery from the cabin is a central reason for the trip, or when uncertainty about the obstruction will bother you throughout the booking process. Choose the discount when the description is specific and the tradeoff is acceptable.
If nobody can establish what is blocked, treat that as missing information. Avoid a non-refundable commitment based only on the hope that your room will resemble a favourable photo from another deck.
