# Disney Treasure vs Star of the Seas: choose your Caribbean week

By Cruise.do · Updated October 17, 2026

The short answer

Shortlist Disney Treasure for the Disney stories and dining experiences your party values; shortlist Star for its activity mix and CocoCay. The seven-night Port Canaveral examples share St. Thomas but visit different other ports. Choose the actual route as well as the ship.

## [Same region and length, different port days](#route)

Dated catalog examples on different weeks; not identical itineraries or verified current offers.
| Compare | Disney Treasure | Star of the Seas |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Example departure | November 21, 2026 | November 15, 2026 |
| Nights / homeport | 7 / Port Canaveral | 7 / Port Canaveral |
| Shared destination | St. Thomas | St. Thomas |
| Other calls | Tortola, Castaway Cay | St. Maarten, CocoCay |
| Sea days | 3 | 3 |

Both examples give you a week from Port Canaveral, but an Eastern Caribbean label hides a real destination choice. If Tortola or St. Maarten is the reason for traveling, make it a deciding factor rather than treating the calls as interchangeable. [Treasure itinerary](#source-route-disney-treasure-2026-11-21). [Star itinerary](#source-route-star-2026-11-15).

The Treasure example is a Very Merrytime sailing. Keep that seasonal context in the comparison and verify the current day-by-day itinerary before booking. Neither the fare nor remaining cabin availability was checked.

## [Story-led dining or a different activity mix?](#experience)

Treasure’s official page presents Plaza de Coco and Worlds of Marvel as part of its themed dining experience. Star’s official overview features Category 6, Surfside and Back to the Future: The Musical. Those named experiences help you ask a better question than which ship has “more.” [Treasure overview](#source-treasure-official). [Star overview](#source-star-official).

Ask each traveler to choose two things they would regret missing. Then look for overlap. A shared enthusiasm for one show or dining experience may be more useful than five attractions that only one person wants to try.

Three sea days in these examples give onboard preferences real importance. Plan at least one quiet block as well as the headline activity; the itinerary should leave room for people who recharge differently. This is an editorial planning suggestion, not a prediction of queues or crowding.

## [Give each port a purpose](#ports)

Choose one main reason to leave the ship at each call. It might be a beach, a particular sight, local food or simply a short walk. Then check the transfers and time needed for that activity against your actual sailing.

The shared St. Thomas stop does not guarantee identical usable hours. Compare arrival, access to shore and all-aboard instructions instead of assuming both ships support the same excursion.

Treat Castaway Cay and CocoCay as their own comparison. Start with the included day, then price the specific extras you want. The [island comparison](https://cruise.do/guides/castaway-cay-vs-cococay/) separates beach-day basics from premium experiences without assuming a universal winner.

## [A fair seven-night budget](#budget)

- Match the full party, cabin occupancy, view and booking flexibility.
- Record the complete cruise quote and required charges, not only a per-person advertisement.
- Add the meals, drinks, internet and port activities your party would actually purchase.
- Use the same transport and pre-cruise planning assumptions where appropriate, while keeping the different departure dates visible.

Do not value every package benefit at its advertised maximum. Give it value only when it replaces a purchase you intended to make. Likewise, do not call one ship expensive purely because its quote includes something missing from the other.

## [A useful way to break the tie](#decision)

Choose around Treasure when Disney storytelling appears repeatedly in everyone’s priorities and the Tortola/Castaway route appeals.

Choose around Star when the advertised activity mix and St. Maarten/CocoCay route support the holiday your group describes.

Choose around the cabin when space, sleeping arrangements or a specific accessible layout is the binding requirement. A ship can look ideal while the available cabin is wrong for your party.

Before paying, read your choice aloud as a sentence: “We picked this sailing because…” If the reason is only a vague reputation, go back to the route and the two experiences that matter most.

## [Common booking questions](#questions)

Is this a Disney versus Royal Caribbean verdict? No. It compares two ships and dated examples, not every sailing offered by either company.

Are both suitable for families? Compare activities and accommodation for your actual ages and needs. A broad family label cannot answer that on its own.

Which has better ports? That depends on what you want to do ashore. The table makes the differences visible so you can choose rather than inherit someone else’s ranking.
