# Cruise muster drill: how to finish the safety briefing

By Cruise.do · Updated October 17, 2026

The short answer

A muster drill teaches you where to go and what to do in an emergency. On Royal Caribbean, completing the video and listening to the alarm are followed by a visit to your assigned muster station. Follow your own ship’s instructions and deadline.

## [What Royal Caribbean asks you to complete](#what-royal-caribbean-asks-you-to-complete)

The [official Royal Caribbean instructions](#source-rc-muster) describe three parts: watch the life-jacket video, listen to the emergency horn and visit your assigned station for a crew check. The first two can be done in the app or on the cabin television.

Treat this as a ship-specific example. Another line may use a different arrangement, and crew instructions on your sailing are the authority. A previous cruise's routine is not proof that you have completed this one.

## [Find the station before you need it](#find-the-station-before-you-need-it)

Read the station identifier carefully. It is an assigned assembly location, not necessarily the nearest lifeboat or the place where you boarded. Walk the route and notice the stairs and signs along the way.

If members of your party have separate cabins, check their assignments individually. Agree that everyone follows their own instructions instead of automatically meeting at one family's cabin during an emergency.

## [Get help with access or the app](#get-help-with-access-or-the-app)

Tell the crew if mobility, hearing, sight or another need affects how you receive the briefing or reach the station. Ask for the appropriate assistance arrangements while staff can explain them calmly.

A frozen screen, weak connection or flat battery is a reason to ask for help. It is not a reason to skip the briefing. Royal Caribbean's station staff can help guests complete the steps, so there is no need to spend the entire afternoon troubleshooting alone.

## [Fit it into boarding day](#fit-it-into-boarding-day)

Put the briefing ahead of a long lunch, unpacking or a pool session. Keep your cruise card and any required identification with you and listen for announcements about completion. Ask staff to confirm your status if the app remains unclear.

Do not copy an alarm pattern from a travel article as your emergency instruction. Learn the signal, assembly point and procedures presented on your ship. This guide helps you prepare for the briefing; it does not replace it.
