# Which Cozumel cruise pier are you using?

By Cruise.do · Updated October 17, 2026

The short answer

Find the terminal name before planning Cozumel. A meeting point that works for Punta Langosta may be inconvenient from Puerta Maya or the International Pier. Your cruise line and the port’s current schedule are better evidence than a general rule about which line docks where.

## [Three names to recognise](#three-names-to-recognise)

You will commonly encounter Punta Langosta, Puerta Maya and the International Pier, also associated with SSA México. The [APIQROO arrival calendar identifies terminal assignments](#source-cozumel-berths). Confirm your own ship and date, then recheck onboard.

Do not assume the same cruise line always uses the same berth. If an operator has sent pickup directions, give them the terminal name and ask them to confirm those directions match it.

## [Puerta Maya is not a downtown starting point](#puerta-maya-is-not-a-downtown-starting-point)

[Puerta Maya places its port three miles south of San Miguel](#source-puerta-maya). A plan built around stepping off the ship into downtown therefore needs adjusting. Decide whether a transfer is worthwhile for what you want to do.

If you only want a meal or shopping within the port complex, say so when comparing options. That is a different day from exploring San Miguel, a beach club or the far side of the island.

## [Make the pickup instructions specific](#make-the-pickup-instructions-specific)

Save the operator's meeting point, any walk outside the terminal and the name shown on their sign. Ask whether transport is included from your pier or whether you must first reach a separate office.

Agree the return destination with the driver using the terminal name. A ship name can help, but port names are less likely to be confused if the driver serves several ships. Keep the ship's contact information available in your offline notes.

## [Treat the ferry as another transfer](#treat-the-ferry-as-another-transfer)

If you plan to leave Cozumel for the mainland, locate the passenger ferry terminal separately from the cruise berth. Include that journey in both directions, plus boarding time and the ferry crossing.

For a short visit, staying on the island removes several moving parts. Choose the mainland only for an activity you specifically want and a schedule that leaves room for delays. The word Cozumel on an itinerary does not mean the mainland attractions are immediately beside the ship.
